Chapel of St. Barbara

The former hospital chapel of St. Barbara is located in the south-western part of the town, on the Lower Square. Its foundations were laid in the 15th century. The original Gothic, perhaps partly wooden, chapel was rebuilt in the early 18th century under the patronage of the owner of the Bílovec estate, Baroness Bohunka Elizabeth Sedlnitz of Choltice. It was originally part of a city hospital, demolished after 1945. Its present form is from the last reconstruction at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. At that time, the chapel was adapted to the ceremonial hall. Further constructions were carried out in the 1990s.
